Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad, 13 August 2020: The Salesian Province of Hyderabad expresses its immense gratitude to the Provincial of the Salesian Province of St Francis Xavier, Mumbai, Fr Silveira Savio sdb, for animating the confreres on the theme “Getting to know the Green Alliance” in the context of an online webinar organized on August 13, 2020. The Province of Hyderabad, have taken up Laudato si’ as one of the priorities of the Province for this academic year in response to the call of the Holy Father and as have also created a sub-commission for the same in order to join the efforts for a safe and sustainable future. Accordingly, it was an honour listening to Fr Savio, who is now the convener of the Don Bosco Green Alliance and extended his expertise towards strategic leadership and global alliance for a sustainable future for everyone, especially for future generations. Fr Savio stress that it caring for the common home is not just a private enterprise, as young people’s lives are constantly being impacted by what the environment is going through, but it is a bounden duty to fight on their behalf for a safe and sustainable future by making young people themselves stakeholders and co-partners in responding to this urgent need of the hour.
The Salesians from the Province of Hyderabad appreciated Fr Savio for the clarity with which he has led everyone to understand, in a typical Salesian way, that caring for the common home is not disconnected from caring for young people, because as Salesians want them and their generations to have a safe and sustainable future. The Salesians put efforts in achieving this goal without which they run the risk of total extinction in a short while from now. Later, Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, sdb the Provincial, and the Fr Jose Maliekal sdb thanked Fr Silveira Savio sdb for the insights on Laudato Si’ and Green Alliance.
