Don Bosco Navajeevan, Ramanthapur, 11-12 September 2021: The corona situation all over the world is alarming. Each one is finding ways and means to secure oneself from this deadly virus. The economically poor and migrant sections of the society are in a greater need of attention as this pandemic caused unrecoverable damage to their health and financial earnings. Every concerted effort is made to show solidarity with them and to plan lines of action for their well being.
One such effort, Free Vaccination Drive for the Poor, is materialized in Hyderabad which is made possible with the sponsorship of the vaccines by DELL Technologies in partnership with the American Chamber of Commerce – India and Hope Foundation and implemented by United Way – Bengaluru and Don Bosco for Migrants (Bosco Shramika Mitra DB4M), Hyderabad.
The locations for the administration of vaccines are identified keeping in mind the aim of reaching this benefit to the poor and migrants. Three places in Hyderabad are: 1. AGI Glass Factory – Motinagar, 2. St. Theresa’s Church – Sanathnagar, and 3. Don Bosco Human Resource Development Centre – Gagillapur. The lower income groups of people are identified and brought to these locations to get vaccination. The overwhelming response is manifested in the number of people who have taken the vaccines from this camp. A total number of 1054 poor, migrant, daily wage labourers and other lower income group people received vaccination. This keeps them prepared to face the impending third wave that may hit the society any time.
They are ever grateful to all the NGOs mentioned above who made this benefit available for them. It is fitting to mention that the management in different locations provided every facility to make the programme worthwhile as planned without any type of inconvenience. Special thanks to Apollo Team for vaccinating and other volunteers who managed the crowds, registrations and helped to follow Covid-19 protocols.
