Ramanthapur, 19-20 November: Annual Provincial Visitation of Don Bosco Navajeevan homes in Twin Cities (Hyderabad and Secunderabad) held on 19th and 20th of November 2014. The Salesian Provincial of St. Joseph Province of Hyderabad, Fr.Raminedi Balaraju, was given warm welcome by the Technical school boys, Bridge course children and staff. On behalf of Don Bosco Navajeevan home, the Director Fr. Bellamkonda Sudhakar welcomed Fr. Provincial to the Navajeevan Family.
The Official visitation began with adoration and conference. During the conference Fr. Provincial called upon to reflect on Consecrated Life (Vita Consecrata) an encyclical written by Bl. John Paul II which focuses on God’s call, man’s response and mission where every religious is asked to reflect and live upon it. He emphasized that spiritual life is not the way of life but it is a way of becoming, Spiritual life is ongoing process.
Fr. Provincial, visited one of the Mud Fort slums where we are working last three years and he was very much impressed with the services rendered by DBNJ. The Don Bosco Navajeevan home, Bhoiguda where boys and staff given formal welcome to Fr. Provincial. During the staff meeting Fr. Provincial thanked the staff for giving time and energy for these children and being their guides in their life journey. He, once again reaffirmed that we not working neither in institution or hostel set up but in a HOME. A home that gives new life for children. After meeting the staff he also address the boys at DBNJ boys, Bhoiguda. He called on them to make use of the services given to them at this home and become honest citizens of our nation and to settle well in a well to do jobs.
On his way back to Ramanthpur he made a visit to “Half a Way Home” at Kachiguda. During the evening prayer he gave a conference on the theme “Work and Temperance” which is one of the major themes of the GC 27. This is articulated in the three points, namely, listening, interpreting and way forward. Before supper we had a cultural programme performed by the children of Ramanthapur. In his message, he said that we are lead or guided by someone to our Don Bosco home, now it depend’s upon us to make use of the facilities offered and to make the best use of the services and to be proud to be called as sons of Don Bosco Navajeevan.
Fr. Provincial animated during meditation and invited the community to reflect on the aspect of: community is for communion, then only it becomes meaningful community. While addressing the students and staff, Fr. Provinical spoke of the Role Model in Do Bosco, he is known as Dreaming Saint in the Church. He encouraged his boys to have big dreams which can mold them for a better future. In this year of Bi-centenary, Don Bosco is asking us to have dreams which can shape our future. In this process of shaping future teacher have the vital role to play. While addressing the staff at Ramanthapur, he asked every department to speak about their activities, namely, Bakery, Printing Press, Technical school, Tailoring, Documentation, Hospitality, Counseling and Hub. It was very interactive session. At the outset he thanked everyone for their dedicated service and extended warm welcome for the new staff who joined Don Bosco Navajeevan family.
Fr. Provincial appreciated some of the new initiatives taken up by Don Bosco Navajeevan during this year, namely, helping technical school boys to appear for Open 10th through NOIS, initiating the process for cooperators unit. He also visited all the technical school department and seen the trainings given to the students in different sections. In the evening he met 9 future cooperators who are showing interest to be Salesain Cooperators. Fr TD John who took initiative to bring them together and had our first meeting with Fr. Provincial explained to them who are the cooperators and their responsibilities. There are very much interested to be part of this great Salesian Family.
