The campus of St John's Regional Seminary, Kondadaba was abuzz with life as 540 high school children participated in a day long childrens' fest on August 5, 2012.  The annual event titled, Bala Balikala Sambaralu, witnessed children from 20 neighbouring villages participate in several competitions, sing songs, play games and learn valuable lessons for life not merely as participants but as creative thinkers and artists.  The programme was planned, organised and animated by the Chaitanya Deepika Group of the Seminary.

Speaking on the occasion, Fr Dara Balaswamy, the Spiritual Director of the Seminary and the chief guest of the day, exhorted the children to never stop learning, in spite of failures or discouragement.  Fr Maliekal Jose, the Rector the Seminary, invited the children to make the most of this opportunity to learn and grow.  Given a chance at the end of the programme a couple of children spoke in glowing terms about this annual event and thanked the Seminary for providing this opportunity to improve their talents and come up in life.

The day began with each village presenting a theme through a tableau under the lush green trees and lawns of the campus.  The judges, Srs Shibi, Annamma and Fr T.V. Jose, were happy to see the variety and creative at work in this presentation.  This was followed by a short inaugural ceremony in the Seminary auditorium.  The dance and song competitions followed.  After a good lunch, there was quite sometime for party games and a round of action songs.  The concluding ceremony was most awaited for it naturally had the announcement of winners (collective prizes for the villages): RP palem, Narpam and Simhadripalem respectively.
