A fascinating two-week long childrens’ day celebrations at St Mary’s High school, Kollapur reached its zenith on Novemer 14th, the official ‘Childrens day’ for India. The students from nursery to tenth actively took part in various sports and games conducted according to the house system. Games and sports like Volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho and 100 metres sprint were organised for the entire school within the house system according to the divisions of super seniors, seniors, juniors, sub-juniors and kids. All the sports and games oraganised were very thrilling and some of the finals were very breath-taking. These games and sports kept the spirit of school and the students on a high note.
These moments of togetherness for the whole school, especially for the students, were a great learning experience to play for the group and give their best for their team.
Rev. Fr. Arikotlapu Vidya Sagar, the correspondent and incharge, was the chief guest of the Childrens' day celebrations on November 14th. Addressing the children, he spoke of children’s rights, duties and highlighted the fact that children are the future of the nation. A few dances by the students and songs sung by one of the teachers captured the hearts of every one. The one and half hour cultural programme ended with the National Anthem. Certainly these days of activities will be remembered for long, especially by the children.
