After the presentation and clarification of the modality of the two day meeting, the Chapter members were formed into three groups to discuss the three fundamental themes of the General Chapter 27, “Mystics in the Spirit, Prophets of Fraternity and Servants of the Young.” The task of each group was to discuss the various responses that came from the six regions, the communities and the individual confreres, on the three fundamental themes and then elicit a synthesis of the present situation/challenges etc., while enlisting the root causes of the same. At 5.30 pm, the Chapter members joined the Province in celebrating the Jubilees of our confreres: Diamond Jubilee of Priestly Ordination of Fr. Lens John, Golden Jubilee of Priestly Ordination of Fr. Yeddanapally Selvaraj, Silver Jubilee of Priestly Ordination of Frs. T. V. Thomas and K. P. Mathew and the Silver Jubilee of Religious Profession of Fr. Pentareddy Jayapaul. It was indeed a meaningful celebration of thanksgiving.
The second day of the Meet continued the same process, while the after-noon session focused on the province matters to be discussed and deliberated upon in the Chapter to be held from 4 February through 7 February, 2012. Fr. Benny Joseph was the secretary who assisted the Moderator and the assembly.
The Preparatory Meet has helped the Chapter members to arrive at a pristine clarity with regard to the document and with regard to taking stock of the present situation through the analysis of the root causes in view of a way forward. There was a great sense of seriousness and reflection that will have a great positive effect in the forthcoming Chapter.
