The first batch of 31 Salesian Cooperators, after two years of preparation formed by the community of Don Bosco academy, Nalgonda under the able guidance of Fr. Gopu Anand, the Director and Fr. Balashowry and Fr. Bhaskar, made their solemn promise in the evening of 4th December in the newly built Church of Mary Help of Christians.

The Salesian-Cooperators who made their promise on 4th December had met together the previous day at the Don Bosco Academy for a day of recollection and preparation. Fr Vatti Balashowry gave the conference on “The service of the Salesian- Cooperators in the Church and congregation.”  On the following day Rev. Fr. Provincial concelebrated the Eucharist along with the community members and all the relatives of the 31 cooperators and accepted them as the salesian cooperators of the province of St. Joseph, Hyderabad. In his homily the Provincial congratulated and invited them to be  co-responsible for the Salesian vocation and explained the significance of the Association of the Salesian-Cooperators, and spoke about the call to holiness to which all the members of the Association try to respond.

After the Mass there was a celebration accompanied by music and dance by the students of the hostels and by the cooperators themselves. Fr. Provincial distributed the certificates and souvenirs to the newly promised cooperators. The programme ended with a dinner for all the invitees and the school staff. The provincial also congratulated Fr. Gopu Anand, the director and the community for preparing the cooperators and offering them to the province and the congregation.
