In a study conducted by the World Health Organisation (WHO) it is observed that most of the people are affected from numerous illnesses caused by oral infection. With this motive, the management of Don Bosco Academy, Nalgonda has invited a team of doctors from Kamineni College of Dental Sciences, Narketpally to conduct a health camp for the evaluation of community-based oral health promotion and oral disease prevention.
Readily accepting this invitation on 18th December, a batch comprising of seven final year PG (BDM) students, headed by Dr. Vijay Bhaskar, a senior lecturer and Mr. Upender, Public Relation Officer have visited the academy to organize a oral health promotion camp. To let the students know the prominence of oral care and to promote the dental health with a medical check-up. The work has begun at 10 a.m and lasted till 5 in the evening. Over 1500 students have benefitted from this programme which has been initiated with the strategy of reducing oral disease burden and disability, especially in poor and marginalized populations. The counselling session taken by Mr. Vijay Basker, on oral health served its purpose at the end of the programme.
A complete reports on every student's oral health is submitted to the management at the end besides which some students are requested to avail themselves in the hospital for free treatment. A word of appreciation and gratitude for the magnanimous work done is offered at the end of the camp to Kamineni College of Dental Sciences, Narketpally by Fr Vatti Balashowry, the Principal of the academy.
