The Community of Don Bosco Technical School, Kurnool was resplendent in colours on 31 January 2013 as it celebrated the feast of St John Bosco with much gaiety and pomp. The chief guest for the programme was Rt Rev. Poola Anthony, Bishop of Kurnool. The Auxilium girls who danced to the beats of the sombre entrance hymn ushered the Bishop and priests into the venue. Fr Tom Chowaran, the Rector, welcomed the Bishop and the guests who had come for the celebration.  The Bishop lighted the lamp and began the Eucharist at 06.30 p.m. A number of religious men and women, boys from the neighbouring institutions, friends and benefactors of Don Bosco were present for the Holy Mass. During his homily, the Bishop stressed some of the salient features from the life of St John Bosco to make the congregation understand that he was an ordinary man born poor but worked hard to make things possible.  He did things in an extraordinary way for the poor and the abandoned youngsters by solely trusting in Divine Providence. He also portrayed Don Bosco as one who was able to attract the wayward youth and to transform them into useful members of the society.  During the Eucharist, one of the candidates from Bridgetine Convent received the sacrament of Confirmation. This certainly added further solemnity to the celebration. After the Mass, there was a brief but sweet cultural extravaganza during which the Bishop was felicitated with a shawl and bouquet of flowers.  The children from Don Bosco Navajeevan tied the friendship band to Bishop. The inmates from Navajeevan, Technical school, Chaitanya Convent and Auxilium Banaganappally mesmerized the audience with their synchronising steps. After the programme, Fr Ignatius proposed a vote of thanks. A sumptuous meal served for everyone concluded the celebration.
