The final day of the provincial chapter, began with an early morning session at 07:00 am. The chapter members felt the need to make our constitutions gender friendly. The elections for the delegate from the province to the General Chapter 27 were held. Fr. Thathireddy Bhaskar, the moderator was elected delegate and Fr. Anand was elected his substitute to the General Chapter 27. The final draft of the Chapter Documents were put to vote. The chapter members approved it unanimously. The proceedings for the first time during these four days of reflections were ahead of schedule.
Fr. Raminedi Balaraju, the Provincial in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, invited the chapter members to carry the spirit of the chapter to their respective communities to usher a new beginning. The chapter document was presented to Fr. Raminedi Balaraju at the end of the Eucharist. The president of the Chapter, Fr. Raminedi Balaraju, then declared the chapter closed. He then reminded the confreres that the fruit of the Chapter is not just a document, but the reflection, the discussions which led to its formulation. They would surely help deepen attitudes and convictions of the Confreres.
It was also a moment of joy as Fr. Lens, the senior most confrere was present for the closing ceremony. The joy at the end of the chapter which was reflected in the smiles of the members was double for another very special reason. On this occasion, Fr. Ramined Balaraju, released the latest publication of Fr. Lens, Mamma Margaret. The first copy of this work of translation was presented to the author by the provincial. Fr. Lens still continues to inspire us with his strong work ethics and commitment to the Salesian Vocation.
It was generally felt and much appreciated that the chapter was conducted smoothly. The discussions reflected the deep concern of each individual confrere to work for the betterment of the province. We congratulate the Moderator and his collaborators, for an excellent job. PC8 was a great success.
