On the auspicious occasion of Fresher’s Day, the second-year intermediate students of Don Bosco Junior College warmly welcomed the first-year students with love and encouragement. The event held on 26th July 2024, themed “Be the Change You Want to See in the World,” was a testament to the unity and enthusiasm of the senior students who took an active role in organising the celebration.

The highlight of the day was the presence of esteemed guests: Rev. Fr. Balashowry as the chief guest, along with Rev. Fr. Praveen (the school principal), Rev. Fr. Yesudas (the dean of studies), and Rev. Fr. Rayappa (Principal of the college). Additionally, the entire teaching and non-teaching faculty were invited to partake in the festivities.

The event kicked off with captivating dance performances by the senior students, which were met with applause and admiration from the juniors. The program also featured inspiring speeches that resonated deeply with the students.

Rev. Fr. Yesudas shared an insightful message on the importance of time management and dedication to studies, illustrating his point with an anecdote about a former top student who fell short due to a lack of preparation. He emphasised the significance of acknowledging and correcting one’s mistakes to achieve success.

Vijayarani Madam spoke passionately about the seriousness of student life, drawing from her personal experiences. She recounted how she rediscovered the value of education later in life and pursued her studies with renewed vigour. She encouraged students to appreciate the sacrifices of their parents and to remain committed to their academic goals.

The speeches were well-received by the students, who listened attentively and absorbed the valuable lessons imparted by the speakers. The senior students then presented gifts to their juniors, fostering a sense of camaraderie and goodwill.

The program concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, marking the end of a memorable and inspiring Fresher’s Day celebration at Don Bosco Junior College.
