Salesians of Hyderabad region gather in Birdy Salesian community for the tri-monthly recollection on August 10, 2024.

Fr Bokkala Rayappa, the rector of the Birdy community, heartly welcomed the Salesians and introduced the recollection preacher Fr Kandula Charles, Hyderabad Archdiocesan priest, residing at St Mary’s Basilica, Secundrabad.

Fr Charles, a septuagenarian based his recollection talk on two key points such as the dangerous of fixed mindset and the dynamics of growth mindset, and the need for the connectedness or intimacy with God. The preacher effectively drove home the point through his life experiences and many anecdotes. He challenged the participants to share in depth of the blessed life of God by shunning negativity, indifference and lukewarmness in our spiritual and civic responsibilities. He observed that a tendency of unhealthy competition based on the worldly standards is growing among the clergy and institutions which is baring us from serving the people with true values. He said that we are unable to project ourselves as truly happy and joyful. Although we educate many, we fail to mold them into great personalities because we lack intimacy and connectedness with God

After the talk, the Salesians participated in the Sacrament of Confession and spent time in silent adoration of the Lord. The tri-monthly recollection concluded with a fellowship meal.
