Diamond Jubilee of the Ordination of
Rev. Fr. John Lens sdb
The diamond jubilee of the priestly ordination of Rev. Fr. John Lens sdb, the pioneering Salesian missionary of our province was celebrated in a fitting way at Sacred Heart Novitiate, Manoharabad. The whole house was tastefully decorated. The well animated Holy Eucharist was concelebrated by 18 Salesians from the neighboring communities. The former novice master Fr. Sebastian John preached the homily. He very briefly highlighted the human and divine qualities of Fr. Lens. The choir was at its best.
The mass was followed by a short felicitation ceremony. The novice master Fr. Mathew Kannadipara welcomed the gathering in his inimitable style. Rev. Fr. Raminedi Balaraju, the Provincial was the chief guest of the function. The other jubilarians namely Rev. Antony Selvaraj, Fr. Emprayil Mathew, and Fr. Kudiyirippil James were also felicitated. The power point programme, depicting the missionary journey of Fr. Lens, who made India, his land of adoption, prepared by Kakumanu Praveen was highly appreciated by one and all. Fr. Provincial and Fr. Kudiyirippil James spoke on the occasion. The jubilee concluded with a sumptuous dinner ably chefed out by the administrator Fr. Putti Anthaiah.
