The Salesian Province of St. Joseph, Hyderabad, has marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of a new presence in Parvathipuram, Srikakulam Diocese. This venture, Don Bosco Parvathipuram, is set to serve as a skill development institute focused on empowering local youth through educational and vocational training.

The inauguration ceremony was led by the Most Rev. Rayarala Vijaya Kumar PIME, Bishop of Srikakulam Diocese, who presided over the blessing of the new institute. The event was marked by an inaugural Holy Eucharistic celebration, with Bishop Rayarala serving as the main celebrant. He was joined by Rev. Fr. Thomas Santiagu, the provincial, and Fr. Garlapati Michael Kishor, the vice provincial, along with other Salesian fathers, diocesan priests, religious sisters, and a gathering of local youth.

Fr. Michael Kishor extended a warm welcome to Rev. Bishop Rayarala and other attendees, expressing profound gratitude for the Bishop’s trust in the Salesians to serve in Parvathipuram. Recognizing the historical and strategic importance of this location in Srikakulam Diocese, Fr. Kishor commended the Bishop’s visionary approach to the diocese’s development and pledged the Salesians’ dedicated support.

In his address, Bishop Rayarala expressed deep appreciation for the Salesians’ commitment to youth welfare and their efforts in renovating the institute’s facilities. He acknowledged the unique role that young people play as the “backbone of the Catholic Church,” particularly in the Srikakulam Diocese. Recognizing the challenges ahead, the Bishop conveyed his hope that Don Bosco Parvathipuram would become a “center of hope” and a valuable resource for local youth seeking guidance, counseling, and support.

The leadership team at Don Bosco Parvathipuram is headed by Fr. Medi Slevaraj, appointed as the in-charge, with Fr. Beesupaka Suman serving as the administrator and Dean of Studies. The institute is prepared to offer computer-based courses tailored to meet the needs of young people within the diocese, equipping them with valuable skills for the future.

This new Salesian presence is seen as a landmark step for Parvathipuram and the Srikakulam Diocese, promising to be a nurturing ground for young talent and a catalyst for community development.
