The Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of St. Michael’s Boys Home – Don Bosco, Guntur, were held on 24th January 2025 as it marked a significant milestone in the institution’s history, serving in many ways for the welfare and salvation of young souls. It lays a great foundation for the Salesian history in Telugu states celebrating the 60 years of loving presence of Salesians. It was a grand occasion, graced by the presence of esteemed Bishop of Guntur Most. Rev. Chinnabathini Bhagyaiah, Salesians from different communities, priests across the diocese, nuns, religious and faithful.

The evening began with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 5:30 PM after which the celebration of the Holy Eucharist was followed. The solemn Mass was presided over by the Bishop of Guntur, Most. Rev. Chinnabathini Bhagyaiah, alongside the Provincial Fr. Thomas Santhiagu and Vice Provincial Fr. Garlapati Michael Kishore of the Hyderabad Province, former provincials and former rectors who served selflessly for the well being of the institution. Nearly 90 priests, 70 nuns, and an impressive gathering of around 3,000 faithful participated in the  grace filled celebration, making it a spiritually enriching and memorable experience.

After the Eucharistic celebration, a felicitation program was organized to honour the Bishop, the Provincial, the Vice Provincial, and all the former provincials and rectors of the institution. During the felicitation a special homage was paid to the three pioneers who laid the strong foundation of St. Michael’s Boys Home: Fr. Benjamin Puthota, Fr. Abraham Panampara, and Br. Gabriel Fernandez. Their contributions and sacrifices to bring many more young souls to God through the intercession of Blessed Mother Mary Help of Christians, were acknowledged with heartfelt gratitude and admiration.

The celebrations concluded with fellowship meal served to all the faithful, nurturing a sense of community and togetherness. The joyous occasion highlighted the legacy and mission of St. Michael’s Boys Home in shaping the lives of countless young people over the past 60 years.

The Diamond Jubilee was a testament to the unwavering faith, dedication, and service that have formed the institution since its inception. It was truly a day of celebration, gratitude, and renewed commitment to the Salesian mission under the  present rector Fr. Kannadipara Mathew whose effective leadership have brought the whole celebration a memorable and beautiful moment.
