Narsipatnam, June 25, 2026: With drug abuse posing a growing threat to young people, Don Bosco Degree College, Narsipatnam, organised an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme on June 25 to sensitise students to the dangers of substance abuse and encourage them to make responsible choices.

Held under the theme “Say NO to DRUGS – Say YES to LIFE,” the programme featured Circle Inspector Mr. Shaik Gaffor as the resource person. Addressing the students, he spoke about the physical, psychological and social consequences of drug abuse and warned them against falling prey to substance use.

Drawing on incidents from his professional experience, Mr. Gaffor shared real-life examples to demonstrate how drug abuse can affect not only individuals but also their families and the wider community. He urged the students to remain alert to negative influences, exercise self-discipline and make informed decisions about their future.

The session generated considerable awareness among the students and encouraged them to recognise the risks associated with substance abuse. The programme also stressed the importance of youth taking an active role in building a healthy and responsible society.

Principal Fr. Upendra, SDB, expressed gratitude to Circle Inspector Shaik Gaffor for his informative and practical presentation. He also appreciated the students for their active participation in the awareness programme.

The initiative forms part of Don Bosco Degree College’s efforts to promote the holistic development of young people, combining academic formation with values, social responsibility and awareness of contemporary challenges.

The programme concluded with a clear message to the students: reject drugs, choose life and build a future based on values and responsible choices.
