In a spirit of revival and renewal, catechists and faith educators of the Salesian Province of Hyderabad gathered for the Empowering Faith Educators Program held on November 6–7, 2025. The two-day event, themed “A Call to Revival and Renewal in God’s Service,” aimed at strengthening catechetical ministry through reflection, sharing, and skill development.
Organized by the BIRDY (Bosco Institute of Research and Development for Youth), Hyderabad, the program brought together over 30 men and women faith formators representing a wide range of experience—from veterans with over 45 years in ministry to young catechists just beginning their journey as catechists. The gathering was marked by a rich exchange of pastoral insights and best practices drawn from years of experience in both rural and urban mission contexts.
During the inaugural session, Fr. Kishor, the Vice-Provincial, appreciated the participants for their dedicated service and commitment to faith formation. Fr. Noel offered a general orientation and emphasized the need for ongoing revival and renewal in ministry.
The sessions covered a wide range of topics, including Challenges of Catechists and Catechetics by Fr. Carlo, Church’s Guidelines on Synodal Catechetics by Fr. Joji, Using the Bible in Catechetical Ministry by Fr. Paulraj H.S., Catechetical Ministry Today by Fr. Johannes, and Digital Faith Expression by Fr. Sudhakar. Participants also reflected on Preparing for Liturgy and Sacraments, facilitated by Bro. Jack.
The program included moments of prayer, Eucharistic celebrations, and fellowship activities such as rosary recitation and the sharing of faith experiences, fostering spiritual growth and community bonding among the participants.
This initiative also commemorated the 150th Anniversary of the First Salesian Missionary Expedition, linking the missionary heritage of Don Bosco with today’s call to evangelize through education. It further fulfilled one of the key pastoral priorities of the Hyderabad Province—Capacity Building for Staff and Confreres—ensuring that faith educators remain well-equipped to meet the evolving challenges of catechesis in a digital and pluralistic world.
