The first annual retreat of the Hyderabad Province concluded on October 4, 2025, at the Salesian Provincial House, marking a week of profound spiritual reflection and renewal. The retreat was preached by Fr. Jose Varicaseril SDB from the Shillong Province, who guided the confreres through an in-depth meditation on the Gospel of Mark under the theme “Discipleship in the Gospel of Mark.”
Fr. Jose invited the participants to encounter Jesus personally through the Scriptures, emphasizing that discipleship is a journey of following Christ closely, learning from His relationships, and sharing in His mission of service and sacrifice. Drawing inspiration from the Gospel narratives, he highlighted how authentic discipleship demands listening to the Word with humility, walking with Jesus even through trials, serving with compassion—especially the young and the poor—and living with hope in the promise of eternal life.
The week-long retreat included daily meditations, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, silent reflection, and the celebration of the Eucharist, creating an atmosphere of deep prayer and fraternity. Fr. Jose reminded the confreres that religious life must always be lived in the light of eternity, calling them to renew their consecration with fidelity and joy.
At the conclusion, participants expressed heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Jose for his spiritual accompaniment and to the Provincial House community for their gracious hospitality and meticulous organization.
The retreat served as a privileged time of silence, grace, and renewal, equipping the Salesians to continue their mission with a renewed heart of discipleship in the spirit of Don Bosco.
