Don Bosco Karunapuram marked Salesian Brothers’ Day with a meaningful celebration on Monday, January 26,  highlighting the vital role of brotherhood within the Salesian Congregation. The programme brought together members of the community for reflection, interaction and thanksgiving.

Br. Vincent Castelino SDB, Economer of the Hyderabad Province, and Br. Chinnabathuni Gregory, the first Salesian Brother and the first Telugu Salesian of the INH Province, were the chief guests for the occasion. They animated sessions for the Salesian Brothers of the community.

Br. Castelino in his session focused on identity and integrity as the two core elements of professional and religious life. His input was followed by an open interaction that encouraged reflection and dialogue among the participants. In the evening, Br. Gregory addressed the gathering, sharing his personal life journey and offering reflections that underlined the identity and vocation of a Salesian Brother.

The day’s celebrations culminated in the Holy Eucharist, Fr. Donthi Reddy Raja, Rector of Don Bosco Karunapuram, presided over the Mass. In his homily, he spoke on the essence of brotherhood in the Salesian Congregation and emphasized the Salesian charism as a single vocation lived through two complementary dimensions.

Following the Eucharist, the community assembled in the refectory to felicitate the two invited Brothers along with four temporarily professed Salesian Brothers currently pursuing philosophical studies. The celebration concluded with a fraternity meal.

The observance reaffirmed the Salesian vision of complementarity between brotherhood and priesthood, recalling the spirit of St. John Bosco, who held both vocations in equal esteem for the mission of serving the young and the salvation of souls.
