With a renewed focus on youth empowerment and vocational accompaniment, the Sisters of Charity, Secunderabad Province, organized a Youth Ministry and Career Guidance Program at their Provincialate on June 29. Fr. Medi Sleevaraj, SDB, a seasoned Salesian priest known for his dynamic work in youth ministry and career guidance, led the sessions and brought together 32 sisters representing communities across the province for a day of reflection, learning, and pastoral renewal.

Fr. Medi’s engaging approach combined music, interactive exercises, group discussions, and pastoral storytelling, creating a vibrant and spiritually enriching atmosphere. Drawing on his extensive experience working with young people in both urban and rural contexts, he provided practical tools and insights to help the sisters accompany youth with confidence and compassion.

In her welcome address, Sr. Alphonsa, Provincial of the Sisters of Charity, expressed gratitude for Fr. Medi’s presence and highlighted the importance of such training. “Youth are not only the future of the Church but also its present. It is our responsibility to walk with them in wisdom and purpose,” she said.

The program aimed to:
• Equip sisters with relevant skills for youth ministry
• Deepen understanding of youth challenges and aspirations
• Introduce strategies for career guidance and vocational counselling
• Strengthen the sisters’ capacity to mentor spiritually, emotionally, and professionally
• Foster collaboration and shared learning among communities

Participants responded with enthusiasm, describing the session as both energizing and enlightening. “The session was interactive and refreshing. It helped us see youth ministry as an opportunity, not a burden,” said one participant. Another added, “We now feel more prepared to guide and accompany young people through their struggles and dreams.”

This initiative reaffirms the Sisters of Charity’s mission to serve the young with relevance and heart—integrating pastoral care, career discernment, and spiritual mentorship as key dimensions of their apostolic outreach.
