Don Bosco Mission Complex, Mariapuram in the diocese of Warangal was accepted as the first venture of the new salesian province of St. Joseph, Hyderabad, at the invitation of the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Thumma Bala, the Bishop of Warangal Diocese and a past pupil of UPS, Rome. This was announced by the Provincial on April 24, 1992.

The pioneers, Fr. Chacko Thattil and Fr. George Koonthanam arrived at Singaram Parish on 12th August 1992. The mission was officially handed over to the salesians on 16th August, by the Vicar General Msgr. Katkanu Joseph. The Salesians took charge of Singaram parish, until the new mission complex was established at Mariapuram village. An agreement was made to this effect, keeping in mind the missionary dimension of Salesian apostolate and the educational and spiritual needs of villages in the three mandals of Parvathigir, Raiparthi and Nekkonda, besides the existing areas of the four mandals of the existing Singaram Parish. This agreement was made between Rt. Rev. Dr. Thumma Bala and Fr. Benjamin Puthota.


The primary scope of this mission is evangelization and education

  1. Don Bosco parish provides an integral faith formation to the local faithful.
  2. Don Bosco School provides holistic education for the students of the locality.
  3. Don Bosco technical school provides training in various trades to the poor and marginalised youth of Warangal Diocese.
  4. Don Bosco boarding provides systematic formation mainly to the Catholic children of the Parish and of the Warangal diocease.
  5. Don Bosco navajeevan reaches out to the children on the street with love and concern
  6. Don Bosco Deepica is a rehabilitation center for the Navajeevan children and also it is a center for organizing the income generating programmes for the Bosco Mathru sangam
  7. DISHA (Hyderabad) is a centre for career guidance and job placement for youth.
