Wake up the world and enlighten the future was the clarion call given by Rev. Fr Pascual Chavez as he preached the retreat for the Salesians of the provinces of Mumbai, Panjim and Hyderabad from 31 October to 5 Novemeber. There were 63 Salesians making this retreat hosted at Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad.
Fr Pascual Chavez stressed on the Salesian Life and Mission in light of the Pope Francis’ Project of Church, in the extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. These days were extra blessed because of the presence of Fr Guillermo Basanes, the General Councillor for missions, Fr Alfred Maravilla and Fr Martin Lasarte, close collaborators of Fr Basanes, who had chosen our Province to make their annual retreat. The presence of the all these Salesians in our Provincial House, had given us a true experience of the universality of the Salesian Mission and the fruitfulness of the Salesian Spirituality. It was a wonderful experience of Salesians praying and worshipping the Lord together, reminding us of the Psalmist who says, How beautiful it is for brothers to live together in unity Ps 133,1. The conferes also found time to meet their companions and interact with them. We thank Fr Chavez for his exemplary presence and powerful talks, other confreres for the prayerful and interactive atmosphere that they created during the days of retreat.
