St Theresa’s Church, Sanathnagar, 07 April 2024: On April 7, 2024, St Theresa’s Church in Sanathnagar became the beacon of spiritual enrichment for 122 altar servers from Salesian City Parishes including Don Bosco Shrine, Bandlaguda Jagir and St Francis Xavier’s Church, Borabanda. The church hosted a comprehensive Altar Servers’ Training Programme, meticulously designed to deepen the participants’ understanding and proficiency in their roles during the Mass. The event kicked off with a session led by Fr Ashok, Assistant Parish Priest of St Theresa’s Church, focusing on the structure of the Holy Mass, the importance of reverence, and the correct execution of liturgical gestures. This was followed by an animated session by Rev Fr Palla Velangini Joseph from St Francis Xavier’s Church, shedding light on the entire order of the Mass and the appropriate handling of sacred vessels.
The highlight of the day was a solemn Mass celebrated by Rev Fr Muthyala Sudhakar, accompanied by insightful homilies encouraging humility and service. The participants were treated to not only spiritual nourishment but also physical, with snacks and a delicious lunch provided by the St Theresa’s staff.
The day concluded with an engaging Bible Quiz by Rev Fr Vanga Joseph, awarding the winners, distribution of participation certificates, and a group photo to commemorate the occasion. The event, supported by Rev Fr Bokkala Rayappa and organized by a dedicated team, exemplified the grace and challenge of being an altar server, emphasizing their crucial role in the liturgy and their community.
