Guntur, Dec 23, 2016: Deacon Mallavarapu Anil sdb was ordained a priest by the Most Rev. Chinnabathini Bhagyaiah, Bishop of Guntur at Mary Help of Christians Shrine, Guntur on Dec 23.
The newly ordained priest has taken “Live in Christ, rooted in Him and built upon Him.” (Col 2:6-7), as his Ordination motto. This celebration of the Holy Ordination was concelebrated by Fr Y. Joji the Vice Provincial and 50 other priests, together with 1000 faithful. Deacon Anil was accompanied to the Altar by his parents as a final sign of offering him to the Church. The Holy service began with a brief introduction of the candidate’s life. Bishop Bhagyaiah in his homily emphasised that the call of priesthood is of service and ministry. He underlined the importance of prayer, in the life of a priest.
The rite of Ordination was the most solemn moment of the celebration, with a prayerful electrifying atmosphere created. After the Ordination Fr Anil Mallavarapu proposed t
he vote of thanks. As a province we thank his parents for this profound gift to the congregation and Bishop Bhagyaiah for conferring the ordination to Fr Anil and a word of thanks to all the Formators who accompanied Fr Anil in his spiritual journey.
We have four Ordinations this year and we thank God for this marvellous gift during the Silver Jubilee Year of the Province.
