It is indeed a proud moment for all of us, as we congratulate Fr Pitchaimuthu Arul Das, the present Director of BOSCO SEVA KENDRA (BSK), which was conferred with the Pascual Chavez Innovative Salesian Ministry Award during the Salesian Provincials Conferece of South Asia Assembly, held at Don Bosco Provincial House, Kolkata, on 1 March 2018.
BSK’s interventions as Gender Equity Movement Soldiers (GEMS), has been proactive in sensitizing four thousand young people every year on Gender Equity and concerned issues. This innovative ministry is to bring to fruition the fifth of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, which states; ‘Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.’
Bosco Seva Kendra, which began 23 years ago, has implemented various developmental programmes for the most marginalized and poor in the regions of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha. It has contributed much to the transformation of the society through social action and interventions.
Once again we congratulate Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar the Provincial of the Salesian Province of St. Joseph, Hyderabad, Fr Pitchaimuthu Aruldas the Director of BSK and the entire team of BSK on this recognition for their innovative work in bringing about Gender Equality.
