Vriksho rakshati rakshita ha! ‘Plants give life to us in return we need to save our plants. The 63rd Anniversary of Vanamahotsavam (feast of the forest) took place in Don Bosco College, Pedaboddepalli, Vishakhapatnam on 31 July. The students of the entire college and the people of the neighbourhood were present for this programme. This programme was to bring awareness in planting and protecting trees as the effects of global warming are tangibly felt by all. As a part of the programme more than 300 saplings were planted by the students. The event attracted hundreds of youngsters and neighbours, and instilled in them the need to plant and protect trees.
The chief guest Mrs. B. Muthyala Papa Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Narsipatnam reiterated the importance of conserving and protecting the environment. The guests of honour for this event were: Mr. Surya Narayana Rao, The M.L.C of Narsipatnam, Mr. Simhachalam, the Municipal Commissioner of Narsipatnam Municipality, Mr. Kantha Rao, the Circle Inspector (CI) of Narsipatnam, Mr. Rammohana Rao, the D.F.O. The event was a great success under the able guidance of Fr. Madanu Rayappa the principal of the college.
