St. John’s Regional Seminary witnessed an enriching two-day workshop on Youth Ministry conducted by Fr. Yeruva Joji, SDB, from 29th to 30th August 2024. The workshop, specifically designed for the philosophy students of the seminary, aimed to provide deeper insights into engaging with young people in pastoral settings.
The program commenced with an introductory session by Fr. Selvan SDB, the Principal of St. John’s Regional Seminary, who spoke about the importance of youth ministry in the life of future priests. He warmly introduced Fr. Joji as the resource person for the workshop. Fr. Praveen SDB, the Administrator, welcomed Fr. Joji and the students, highlighting the significance of the seminar in shaping the future ministry of the seminarians.
Fr. Joji, known for his dynamic approach and active engagement, captivated the students with his thorough and insightful presentation on youth ministry. He delved into various dimensions of working with young people, emphasizing the role of seminarians as future priests who will be entrusted with the spiritual care of the youth. His sessions were filled with practical tips, spiritual guidance, and innovative methods to connect with young people in today’s fast-paced world.
During the workshop, Fr. Joji explored key aspects such as the challenges young people face in modern society, the importance of listening to them, and how to foster a community that encourages their growth in faith. He also stressed the necessity of patience, understanding, and empathy when working with the youth, reminding the seminarians that their role is not just to guide but also to accompany young people in their faith journey.
The seminar concluded with an interactive session, where students expressed their thoughts and questions. Many were inspired by Fr. Joji’s lively animation and expressed gratitude for the practical insights they gained.
