The Don Bosco Provincial House in Hyderabad recently hosted an ongoing formation program for leaders from August 28th to 30th. The event, led by Fr. Joe Sebastian, brought together nearly 45 Salesians, including rectors, commission and sector heads, and parish priests from the St. Joseph Hyderabad Province. The theme of the program was “Discernment,” which emphasized the importance of making informed and wise decisions.
Fr. Joe Sebastian, in his sessions, reiterated that discernment is a demanding yet indispensable skill for living a fulfilling life. He highlighted that discernment requires a blend of intelligence, skill, and willpower to make good choices. His presentations were noted for being both lively and interactive, engaging the participants thoroughly.
A significant part of the program was the evening think tank sessions, where participants actively contributed to the discussions. They shared their insights, clarified doubts, and offered suggestions that enriched the understanding of the topic. The sessions provided a platform for open dialogue, allowing for a deeper exploration of discernment.
Fr. Joe Sebastian also drew inspiration from the life of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, presenting him as a highly instructive example of discernment in practice. The life and teachings of Saint Ignatius were used to illustrate the process of making thoughtful and prudent decisions.
Overall, the ongoing formation program was a fruitful experience for all attendees, reinforcing the vital role of discernment in leadership and daily life.
