Hyderabad, January 26, – Communities across the province of Hyderabad commemorated the Feast of St. John Bosco with vibrant celebrations, reflecting the enduring legacy of the saint who dedicated his life to youth and education. Although the official feast day falls on January 31, several parishes advanced their celebrations to January 26 for pastoral reasons, ensuring wide participation by the faithful.
Don Bosco Shrine, Bandlaguda
At the Don Bosco Shrine in Bandlaguda, the feast was celebrated with a solemn Eucharistic celebration at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony, presided over by Rev. Msgr. Balaswory, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Hyderabad, was particularly significant as 52 children, including six Pre-Novices, received the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation. The event followed nine days of spiritual preparation, including a grand procession on January 25 through the streets of Bandlaguda Jagir, featuring statues of Don Bosco, Jesus Christ, and Mother Mary.
Don Bosco Mission, Ravulapalem
The Don Bosco Mission in Ravulapalem infused the feast with cultural and spiritual fervor under the theme “Bosco Sambaralu”. The celebrations included games, traditional activities, and competitions, fostering community spirit among the boarding boys, girls, and the Sisters of the MSMHC congregation. Intense spiritual preparations were followed by moments of shared joy and happiness, making the event a memorable occasion for all participants.
Assumption Church, Pezzonipet
In Pezzonipet, the Assumption Church marked the feast day with a Eucharistic celebration led by newly ordained priests. Their presence highlighted the connection between Don Bosco’s mission to empower youth and the continuing dedication of young clergy to serve the Church.
