Bosco Seva Kendra (BSK) the development Office of Salesian Province of Hyderabad had organized an exposure visit for women dairy farmers of BSK Self Help Groups (SHG) located in Karimnagar District, Mulukanoor Women Cooperative Dairy on July 3, 2014. This dairy is run by Women Self Help Groups on cooperative society principles, which attracted to win National award for it. The Journey began with 60 board of directors, staff and coordinators from Hyderabad. The Dairy staff had explained the journey of dairy from its beginning to present stage. The members visited all the sections of the dairy to gather knowledge on dairy activities. The members got a chance to meet different dairy women staff and resolve many of their doubts to enrich their knowledge with regard to various aspects of women cooperative dairy. Various queries solved which include dealing with different kinds of initial documentations, tactics of approaching members to group, convincing members to invest, methods of sales and marketing and trade secrets.
In the evening, the members visited milk collection centre in Husbagh village. The centre staff explained the process of collection of milk from the members and further explained about their MACS, election of leaders, board of directors, their income and expenditure, their understanding with dairy.
The members were quite happy and contented with this exposure visit, which was full of learning. Giving their feedback, the members said that the direct field exposure based on dairy activities is highly knowledgeable; the interaction with different women dairy staff gave a practical idea of starting Women cooperative dairy. The members thanked Fr. Thomas Santiagu and Fr. P.Arul Das for their efforts and arranging this visit.
