A two day volunteers meet for all the foreign volunteers working in various Navajeevan Centres of the Province was convened on 5th and 6th of July in the Provincial House, Hyderabad. Ten volunteers from Austria and Germany working in three of our centres for the young at risk; Vizag, Vijayawada and Hyderabad participated in the meeting.
Fr. Raminedi Balaraju, the Provincial addressed the volunteers and thanked them for their service. He reminded them about preventive system through which the lives of the young are transformed. He also presented the Child policy and briefed them about the rules, roles and responsibilities of the volunteers. Fr. Thathireddy Vijay Bhaskar the vice provincial was the resource person who animated the volunteers through the day. All the volunteers shared their experiences, some with the help of photographs, power-point presentations and videos.
In the afternoon session, Fr Vice Provincial presented and discussed the Child Policy and Child Protection Policy with the volunteers. He delianted the rules for the volunteers envisaged in the Child Protection Policy. In the evening session there was 'Face to Face' session with three of the Navajeevan past pupils: Vishnu (Dance Master), Shyam Sunder (Graduate) and Firoz (Pursuing College Studies). They shared their experiences of Navajeevans with the volunteers and answered various queries. The volunteers learned a lot from this interactive session. As most of the volunteers were completing their stay in India and at the Navajeevans, there was an evaluation in which they have expressed that the volunteering experience was a life-time experience and that they have learnt a lot of things. Volunteers expressed their joy about the selfless service rendered by Salesians to the poor and needy street children.
Most of the volunteers are fascinated by the Indian Cinema, the songs and the dances, especially the dance culture of the Navajeevans. To quench their curiosity, they opted to go to the famous Ramoji Film City for a day of outing.
