Karunapuram, 13 Fev 2016: On the thirteen of February 2016, the salesian province of Hyderabad commemorated the months mind of one of its veteran confreres Fr.Jacob Moonnanappallil sdb who went to his eternal abode on the 15th of January 2016. The community of Don Bosco Philosophate, Karunapuram prepared for this meaningful event. The surroundings were well cleaned and the numerous digital flexes spoke on the inspiring life of Fr. Jacob sdb.
Around half past four in the evening, the months mind Holy Eucharist was solemnized by Fr. Thathi Reddy Vijaya Bhaskar sdb, the provincial of the Salesian Province of Hyderabad. Around 20 priests and religious of the Salesian family were present for the Holy mass. Fr.Benny Joseph sdb preached a heart touching and soul stirring homily on the life of Fr. Jacob sdb. He said that this is not a day to mourn over the death of Fr.Jacob sdb; rather it is a day of celebration. It is not a day to say condolences but a day to tell congratulations. It is
because we have gained one more intercessor in heaven. He too read the following phrase which Fr.Jacob wanted it to be in the mortuary letter i.e. “ My life was a failure and my dreams were shattered. But I abandon my life in the hands of the Lord.”.He too said that Fr. Jacob sdb who spent 22 long years on the wheel chair is now singing and dancing in heaven and praying for each one of us. The harmonious singing by the students of philosophy added colour to the holy mass.
After the holy Eucharist, all went in procession to the cemetery for the blessing of the tomb which was beautifully decorated. Fr. Provincial garlanded the tomb and there was a short and meaningful prayer service led by Fr.K.T. Jose sdb. Fr. Yeruva Joji sdb the vice provincial coordinated the whole event and it was meticulosly planned and diligently executed.
