The confreres of St Joseph’s Hyderabad Province gathered at the Provincial House Hall for the inaugural address by Fr. Biju Michael Pulianmackal SDB, the Regional Superior of South Asia, marking the commencement of the Extraordinary Visitation. The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the start of this significant occasion. Fr. Biju, Fr. Provincial, and other confreres took part in the lighting ceremony, followed by a felicitation of Fr. Biju by Fr. V Balashowry, Fr. B Charan, and Br. Gregory.

During the event, Fr. Biju released the book 101 Premaanuragala Kathalu, authored by Fr. K. S. Joseph and translated into Telugu by Fr. D. Shiva Johannes, adding a literary highlight to the proceedings.

Fr. Provincial extended a warm welcome to Fr. Biju on behalf of the province and provided an overview of the province’s statistics, setting the context for the Extraordinary Visitation. In his address, Fr. Biju elaborated on the current happenings within the congregation and discussed the purpose and significance of the Extraordinary Visitation. He highlighted articles 135 and 140 of the Salesian Constitutions, which emphasize the necessity of regular visits to maintain the vitality and fidelity of the Salesian mission.

Fr. Biju read the recommendations from the previous Extraordinary Visitation, reminding the assembly of their shared responsibility to uphold the mission and vision of the Salesian community. He stressed the importance of self-reflection, accountability, and renewal within the province, urging all members to engage deeply with these themes during the visitation.

Continuing with the animation, Fr. Biju emphasized the unity of the congregation as part of a global community, highlighting that their contributions are essential to the collective mission. He spoke on the dynamics of the Salesian community, emphasizing that the purpose should be inspirational rather than merely motivational. Fr. Biju underscored that the commitment and conviction of each member are crucial in becoming effective ministers to the young, reinforcing the importance of inspiration and dedication in their service.

The inaugural address set the tone for a period of reflection and renewal for the Salesian community, encouraging all members to actively participate in the Extraordinary Visitation with a spirit of openness and collaboration.
