The Salesian Parish of the Assumption Church at Pezzonipeta, Vijayawada, celebrated its Parish feast in all gaiety and fervour on the twin feasts of the Assumption of our Blessed Mother and the Independence Day of our mother India, August 15, 2012. The faithful were well prepared for the Church feast spiritually by the meaningful Triduum services which comprised of recitation of the Holy Rosary, Confessions and the Holy Eucharist. On the occasion of the feast, a marriage bureau, under the title BOSCO DARSINI, was inaugurated in order to help the catholic match-seekers to get some information about the catholic youth, searching for appropriate spouses. The endeavour will another noble task overseen by the the Vincent de Paul society of the parish.
Msgr. Rev. Fr. M. Chinnappa, Vijayawada inaugurated the above said forum and sought the blessings of Almighty for this noble venture of our Parish. The Holy Eucharist was well attended by the parishoners. The main celebrant reiterated the relevance of the feast to the situation of today and exhorted the gathering to place their entire trust in the motherly intervention of Mary. Fr. Thota Mariadas and the council members felicitated the priests and religious from this parish.
Earlier in the day, the Telugu medium School under the management of the Church too had its celebration of the Independence day with colourful cultural programmes and speeches by the students. Fr. Sebastian, the Rector, hoisted the flag and gave a feast day message to the school community.
