Fr. Yaddanapalli Selvaraj, one of the pioneer of the Salesian province of Hyderabad celebrated the golden jubilee of his priestly ordination on 5 December at donbosco aspirantate Gunadala. In the presence of well wishers, confreres and the members of the Salesian family the felicitation programme started with the solemn procession from the entrance of the house towards chapel where the 79 year old veteran Salesian presided over the holy Eucharist. Former provincial Fr. Maddichetty Noel in his homely lauded the priestly qualities and recollected works accomplished by Fr Selvaraj. The felicitation programme followed by the holy eucharist is prepared to thank the jubilarian. Fr.Tatireddy vijaya Bhaskar, the vice-provincial, Fr. Noel, Fr. Balaswamy, Fr. Y.M. Jose, Fr. Rayappa the rector of the community with all the other confreres, pre-novices and aspirants were present for the programme. Every one held Fr Selvaraj in high regard for his inspirational life and service. A special jubilee calendar was prepared to commemorate this great event.

Fr. Yaddanapalli Selvaraj was born on 17 April,1933 in Tamil Nadu. He was the only son of Arullaiah and Annamma. Following his own inclination to become a holy priest he with the consent of his parents joined the salesians and professed in the year 1952 at Kotagiri and was ordained a priest on 1 May, 1963. From then Fr Slevaraj has been tirelessly working for the poor and needy youth. He also served the province at various respects; His service as the first province secretary was instrumental after the erection of the Province of St Joseph, Hyderabad in 1992. Later, he also served as the vocation promoter of the province. He also held various responsibilities at Don Bosco Prem Nivas Mangaliri, Don Bosco ITC kadapa, St Michaels Boys home, guntur, Don Bosco, guntupalli,  Don Bosco Mission patsala tadiparru, Don Bosco gunadala, DB Navajeevan punganoor, Assumption church Pezzonipet, etc. He lived a life of honesty and simplicity ever remembering his ordination motto “you must increase and I must decrease”.
