Ugadi, the Telugu New Year was celebrate with fun and fervour at Don Bosco Academy on Thursday 11th April 2013 by the hostel students in the presence of all the fathers and brothers. As the feast stands for newness, the students cleaned their hostel rooms and decorated the entrances with green mango leaves. They add more colour to the campus through their colourful dresses. The auspicious Ugadi pachadi specially prepared on this New Year day was distributed for all the students. Fr. Anand, the Director of Don Bosco Academy Speaking on this occasion said that eating “Ugadi pacchdi” ( a festive chutney ) a specific mixture of six tastes as it symbolizes the fact that life is a mixture of different experiences (sadness, happiness, anger, fear, disgust, surprise), which should be accepted with equanimity throughout the year. Fr. Balashowry, the principal and Fr.Bhaskar the head master spoke to children on this occasion about the feast and its prominence. Towards the afternoon a grand cricket tournment was organized for the students of the academy. The party songs and games conducted by the brothers made the children more enthusiastic. Children also enjoyed the festive meal in the evening along with the fathers brothers and sisters. Cultural programme programme organized after the supper delighted everyone in the academy.
