Don Bosco Premnivas, Mangalagiri, 08 December 2023: A landmark event unfolded in Mangalagiri with the inauguration of Don Bosco School, heralding a transformative era in the educational landscape of the region. This new educational institution is dedicated to delivering a comprehensive learning experience, aiming to foster the intellectual, physical, and spiritual growth of its students. The vision behind the school is to prepare young minds for the multifaceted challenges of the future by ensuring a balanced and enriched upbringing.
The ceremonial inauguration of the school building commenced at 9:00 am, receiving blessings from Rt. Rev. Dr. Chinnabathuni Bhagaiah, Bishop of Guntur Diocese. The event was graced by the presence of notable Salesian dignitaries including Rev. Fr. Santiagu Thomas, Provincial; Rev. Fr. Garlapati Michael Kishore, Vice Provincial; Rev. Bro. Vincent Castilino, Provincial Economer; and Rev. Fr. Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, Former Provincial. They, along with all former Rectors of Don Bosco Premnivas, imparted their blessings on the various blocks of the school. The ceremony also saw participation from local education department officials (MEOs), highlighting the collaborative spirit of the venture.
A vibrant cultural program by the school children added to the festivities, showcasing the talent and enthusiasm of the students. The event’s warmth extended further with the felicitation of dignitaries and contributors, including Mr. Venkareswarlu, the chief contractor, and his team, acknowledging their pivotal role in bringing the vision of Don Bosco School to fruition.
Rt. Rev. Dr. Chinnabathuni Bhagaiah, in his address, emphasized the indispensable role of education in the development of a child, advocating for a broader understanding of education beyond basic literacy to include a vital tool for personal, social, and economic empowerment.
The celebration continued with the Provincial Community Day at 11:00 am, attended by approximately 60 Salesians, expressing gratitude towards the Provincial and his council. The day was filled with camaraderie, featuring sharing sessions, party games, and group activities, creating an atmosphere of fellowship and joy among the attendees.
The afternoon was charged with sports activities, including shuttle and volleyball matches, fostering teamwork and physical fitness among the participants. The spiritual crescendo of the day was reached with the Holy Eucharist at 6:30 pm, followed by a felicitation ceremony honouring Fr Santiagu Thomas, Fr Garlapati Michael Kishore, Br Vincent Castilino, and other distinguished council members. The day concluded with an agape meal, symbolizing unity and shared commitment towards the noble cause of education.
