Srikakulam, 11 December, 2023: In a remarkable event that celebrated diversity and inclusivity, the Srikakulam Diocese, under the guidance of Most Rev. Bishop Rayarala Vijay Kumar, hosted a semi-Christmas celebration specifically for the transgender community. This gathering, held on December 11, 2023, in Mariagiri Srikakulam Diocese, was not just a festive occasion but a significant stride towards fostering a more inclusive society.
Bishop Rayarala Vijay Kumar, a prominent figure of compassion and inclusivity, delivered an inspiring message during the inaugural session. He emphasized God’s unconditional love for all, irrespective of gender identity, highlighting the event’s core message of acceptance and love. Regional Youth Director Sagili Praveen and Rev. Fr Sleevaraj also contributed meaningful insights, focusing on self-reliance, societal roles, and envisioning a brighter future for transgender individuals.
The event was characterized by an array of cultural and competitive activities, including Rangoli, Mehandi, singing, and other cultural programs, spearheaded by Sr. Amitha and the Youth Commission. These activities not only showcased the talents within the transgender community but also served as a platform for expression and celebration of their identities. The symbolic cake-cutting ceremony, performed by Bishop Vijay Kumar alongside members of the transgender community, stood as a powerful symbol of unity and shared joy.
The celebration concluded with a blessing from the Bishop, followed by the distribution of prizes to the winners and runners-up of the various competitions.
