Sahayamatha Shrine, St Michael’s Boys Home, Guntur, 15 December 2023: In a groundbreaking celebration, the youth of Sahayamatha Parish in Guntur marked their first-ever Semi-Christmas celebration on 14 December 2023. This historic event, encompassing participants from the parish’s main center and its three substations, brought together around thirty-five young individuals for an evening filled with faith, fun, and festivity.
The celebration commenced with the Holy Eucharist at 6 pm, with Fr. Chandramohan leading as the main celebrant. This spiritual gathering set a reverent tone for the evening, uniting the youth in worship and reflection on the significance of the Christmas season.
Following the Eucharist, the parish community transitioned into a lively and much-anticipated program of carols, performances, and games. The event showcased an array of talents among the youth, including songs, dances, and the joyful exchange of ‘Christmas friend’ gifts, symbolizing the spirit of giving that defines the season. A cake-cutting ceremony added a sweet note to the proceedings, embodying the unity and shared joy of the parish family.
Fr Sojan, Fr Johannes, Fr Anoop, and Fr Chandramohan participated in the celebration, lending their support and encouragement to the youth. The event’s success was attributed to meticulous planning and execution by the young participants themselves, under the watchful guidance of Fr Anoop, the youth director.
The inaugural Semi-Christmas celebration concluded with a communal meal, fostering fellowship and camaraderie among the attendees. This memorable first for Sahayamatha Parish not only served as a testament to the vibrant spirit and unity of its youth but also set a precedent for future celebrations, promising a new tradition of festive joy and community engagement within the parish.
