Theresa’s Church came alive with spiritual fervour and festive joy as it hosted Christmas Cantata, themed “Joy to the World, the Savior is Born.” This grand event, meticulously organized by the parish priests in collaboration with council members and youth, aimed to prepare the faithful for the feast of the Nativity and left a lasting impression on approximately 1,500 attendees.
The Cantata, which took nearly two months to prepare, showcased a masterful blend of music, drama, and visual storytelling. The evening began with an inspiring speech by Fr. Jose, the Rector and Parish Priest, who reminded the audience that “Christ came to break the barriers and build the bridge between God and humanity.” He was joined by Fr. Rayapps and Fr. Dilip, who offered profound reflections, deepening the spiritual atmosphere.
At 8:15 PM, the much-anticipated performance began. The CAG (Christian Association Gospel Ministries) and the choir from St. Theresa’s Parish enthralled the audience with soul-stirring carols and dramatic skits that transported them back to the days of Jesus’ birth while connecting it to modern times. The innovative use of screens to depict scenes from the past and the meticulously crafted set designs of olden days were standout features, adding authenticity and a touch of magic to the performances.
The highlight of the evening was the concert performance, which left the audience spellbound. It was not just a visual and auditory treat but also conveyed a powerful message about the birth of Christ in a way that resonated deeply with everyone present.
Adding to the significance of the evening were special guests, including Aruna Bahuguna, the first female IPS officer from Andhra Pradesh, Kota Neelima, Rev. Mr. Issac and Rev. Joshua Lee from Korea. Their presence further enhanced the celebratory spirit of the event.
A joyous cake-cutting ceremony with the special guests and artists brought an element of festivity to the evening, followed by a heartfelt prayer by Fr. Justin, leaving attendees in a reflective and spiritual state.
The event was not just a parish initiative but a collaborative effort with neighboring Christian denominations, reflecting a spirit of unity and interfaith harmony. The active involvement of the parish youth in stage preparations and other arrangements highlighted the community’s collective effort. As the event concluded with warm Christmas wishes exchanged, St. Theresa’s Church successfully set the tone for the season, offering an unforgettable celebration of the Savior’s birth.
