Hyderabad – 01 November: The General Councillor for Youth Ministry, Fr. Fabio Attard, inaugurates Don Bosco Youth Animation Board and Council Meet at Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad on Saturday, 1 November 2014, in the presence of the Regional Councillor for South Asia, Fr. Maria Arokiam and Fr. Maria Charles, the South Asia Regional Delegate for Youth Ministry. Also present were Frs. Miguel Angel and Robert Simon, the members of the Youth Ministry Team, Rome. With the primary aim of delving deep into the Salesian Youth Ministry: Frame of Reference, the meet is being attended by the Youth Pastoral Delegates of all the provinces of the region and the provincial delegates for the four dimensions of youth ministry.
The inauguration was marked by a moment of prayer invoking the presence and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Inspired by the commission from the Lord to be salt and light and by the call of the Salesian Constitutions (Art 17), the prayer moment led the gathering well into the process of serious reflection on Salesian Youth Ministry, in the region of South Asia, within the revised frame of reference published recently. The Vice-provincial and Youth Pastoral Delegate of the hosting province, Fr. Thathireddy Vijay Bhaskar, animated the prayer session and welcomed the guests and the gathering, while the provincial Fr. Raminedi Balaraju felicitated the visiting Councillors and the Organising Team.
The Meeting has been scheduled from 31 October 2014 to 5 November 2014, the last day of which would be set apart for a meeting of the DBYA Board and the rest of the days for the whole Council. “We are not here to offer you our expertise top-down, but we are all on a journey together,” said Fr. Fabio hitting the right note for the journey begun, a journey not merely of these days of the meeting but the whole journey of the ongoing deepening of Salesian Youth Ministry in South Asia.
