Don Bosco Provincial House, 26 October 2019: A training programme on science and technology was conducted by EXSTEMPLAR Education linkers Foundation at Don Bosco Provincial House Hyderabad.
The Participants were the teachers from Don Bosco Schools from Bandlaguda, Nalagonda, Motinagar, Mangalagiri, Ravulapalam, Ponganuru, Guntapalli and Mariapuram. The resource persons Mrs Sharon consultant in education IRIS, Mr Douglas HOD chemistry were welcomed and introduced by Fr Banda Suresh, Principal, Don Bosco School, Guntupalli (CBSE). About 30 participants from eight different schools of Don Bosco attended the training programme.
The objective of the workshop was to train teachers to take lead and promote STEM (Scientific Technological Engineering and Mathematically) based solutions in their respective schools. This programme gives students an opportunity to become solution creators for the problems they see around them and align their thoughts to apply the STEM based solution techniques for the problems.
The training session included:
- Inquiry based learning
- levels of inquiry
- Identifying and investigating a problem
- Design thinking process
- Poster making
The session continued after a 35 minutes lunch break around 12:50 p.m. The Post lunch session included the participants to select a topic or a problem or a situation from the given topics.
Each group applied inquiry and design thinking process to prepare a poster and present it. The resource persons added their views which helped them to have a better understanding. Each school was given a target to submit 25 posters made by 25 groups each consisting of four student participants. The training session ended around 3:45 p.m. with a vote of thanks.
