BIRDY, Hyderabad, 7-8 February 2020: The Governing Body Meeting of Don Bosco National Forum for Young at Risk began at Bosco Research Institute for Research and Development of Youth(BIRDY) in Hyderabad, on 7th & 8th February 2020. YaR representatives from 11 provinces gathered to finalise their perspective plans at the national and province level. This exercise began a year ago under the programme titled “Imagine YaR Ministry”.
This was a massive exercise involving Children, Past Pupils, Staff, Salesians and Collaborators.
The day started with a mesmerizing dance performance by children from Don Bosco Navajeevan, secundrabad. Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, Provincial, President of YaR welcomed the gathering and motivated the group through his address. Fr John Dharmanathan kicked off Friday’s proceedings, with a talk on “Addressing substance abuse among young persons – a network approach.” The second talk, by Mr Adrian Philips was on “Trafficking in Young Persons – models for Prevention, Rescue and Rehabilitation”.
Several other discussions are in the agenda. The YaR leaders made their 5 year plan for the needy and neglected youth of South Asia.
Fr Provincial thanked Fr Thomas Koshy who has completed his 6 year tenure as Executive Secretary for DB National Forum for YaR.
