Don Bosco Navajeevan (DBNJ), Kurnool, 6 April 2020: We are in a time when people are getting separated from each other, due to the threat of the COVID-19. Most people have chosen to shut themselves in to keep themselves and their families safe. The separation is clear and both mandated (by government) and freely chosen (personal). The terms ‘social distancing’, ‘no proximity’, and ‘no association with others’ – definitely something that is strange to the human life in the 21st century of social living and yet humanity accepts it and follows it willingly. Therefore, in the present situation the Salesians have decided to render a helping hand to the poor and needy in and around Kurnool Town in the following way:
1. As part of relief services 50 orphans and semi orphans were provide food and shelter from 25th of March till the lock-down is lifted.
2. Mid day meals served to the shikhari community from 25th of March till the lock-down is lifted.
3. Food was provided in the afternoon to 70 Rag Pickers for 10 days. These people are from different parts of Andhra and Telagana states.
4. Provisions Kit (Rice-5 kgs, Oil packet-1, Dal-1kg) distributed to 20 families (who do not have ration card) in the near by village Thandrapaadu.
