St Theresa’s Parish, Sanathnagar, Hyderabad, 6 April 2020: People suffer whenever there is an epidemic or disaster. As Disciples of Christ we cannot be onlookers especially during the Lenten season, where apart from prayer and fasting, we are called upon to practice almsgiving, not only as individuals but also as a religious community and parish community. Thus, St Theresa’s Parish, Sanathnagar took up this challenge of the Lord and came forward as a parish family to alleviate the sufferings and to be a helping hand to wipe away the tears of the people around.
The parish under the leadership of the parish priest Fr Jayapaul and his team with a generous support of the Parishioners moved ahead and arranged in the first phase to distribute 200 kits consisting of rice and other food articles costing a little above Rs. 1000 to be distributed through the parish council members to the needy of the parish and neighbourhood. The unstinted support given by the donors was praiseworthy. The parish ward in charge councilor collected the kits for the area on 6th April 2020 and ensured that they reached the residence of the beneficiary without any hassles. The beneficiaries have appreciated the concern and compassionate heart of the Salesians.
