Assumption Church, Pezzonipet, Vijayawada, 11 April 2020: Down the centuries it is proved that the humanness is abundant in itself that makes one to think of the needs of others, for everyone is a “child of God”. The community of Assumption Church Pezzonipet Vijayawada, being one with the poor and needy in its vicinity especially who are affected by the lock-down due to Corona (Covid-19). Fr Thota Mariadas, the Rector and Parish Priest, Fr Jinugu Sagar, Administrator and Headmaster of the School, along with the parish coordinators and youth distributed provisions, food packets to the daily labourers whose livelihood solely depends on their daily wages.
Apart from the distribution of essential groceries, the Sanitizers and Masks were also offered to the municipal workers of the sanitary department. The community is active and available to the needs of people especially in distributing provisions door to door and it has reached out to one hundred families. It also placed the school buildings at the service of the people to distribute provisions supplied by the government. The community has been helping people in need particularly in this horrific situation due to a nationwide lock-down announced on Tuesday amid the Covid-19 outbreak.
