Don Bosco Navajeevan Bala Bhavan (NJBB), 11 April 2020: NJBB’s objective was simple – no one should have to sleep hungry. Over the last 25 years, NJBB catered to several street kids in need, and to people around in partnership with authorities across the country with over thousand outreach programmes.
During the on-going pandemic, social distancing is a luxury that India’s informal workforce of 450 million cannot afford. With the government lock-down order and inadequate state provisions for food distribution, several families are sleeping especially nomads and migrants hungry – stranded at railway stations or state borders.
Hence, NJBB surveyed the area of New RR Pet at Singnagar, Vijayawada the needs of the beggars and migrants and found out that they are being fed by the AP government on a daily basis, and accordingly realized the need for blankets. Thus, NJBB and its staff distributed blankets and clothing along with toiletry articles for 120 people. Fr Ratna, the Director-NJBB, Bro Ajay and other fours staff were present for this distribution.
Similarly, on 13 the April 2020, NJBB provided a Provision Kit (Rice-5 Kgs; Dal-1 Kg; Oil-1ltr; and Toiletry Articles) at Auto Nagar to 48 nomadic destitutes.
