Don Bosco, Motinagar, 9 April 2020: The global crisis caused by COVID-19 has hit the migrant workers and sanitation workers apart from healthcare professionals. They invest their lives at risk every day and play a critical starring role in stopping the spread of the virus ensuring our streets, parks, public spaces, sewers, septic tanks, communities, and public toilets are kept clean and hygienic.
They are the habitually overlooked sanitation workers. They continue to work through the COVID-19 pandemic and are unprotected, stigmatised, unappreciated, and seen as people to be shunned. It is here that the Salesians at Don Bosco Motinagar have come forward to their side helping these migrant labourers especially GHMC workers from Borabanda though the instrumentality of Mr Vijya Kumar, Sanitary Inspector, Yusufguda. He has collaborated to trace these families with needed provisions for 20 days. The migrant families were 75. The Provision Kit consisted Rice-10 Kgs, Dal-3 Kgs, Oil-2 Ltrs, Tamarind-250 Grms, Chilli Powder-250 grms and Coriander Powder-25 grms. Fr George VM, Principal, Don Bosco College, Fr Gopu Peter, Principal, Don Bosco School, Mr Vijay Kumar, Sanitary Inspector, Mr Rydon Roach, Telangana State Catholic President were present during the distribution.
