Bosco Seva Kendra (BSK), Don Bosco Provincial House, 9 April 2020: In the wake of Covid-19, BSK has been reaching out to many people directly or through sister-concern institutions of Don Bosco Network and through Civil Society Organization (CSO) networks in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha. BSK is coordinating all the rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations from its head office, Hyderabad and the regional office at Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. BSK in collaboration with Bosco Net, Delhi is actively extending its services to the people affected by this lockdown from 22nd March 2020. Bosco Net has been assessing all the programmes through their video conferences with Planning and Development Offices (PDOs) in India from time to time. Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar sdb, the President, is a guiding factor in every process that BSK is undertaking to meet the challenges of Covid-19 relief operations.

BSK has taken this mission as a greater responsibility to reach out to the neediest especially the migrant families, daily wage labourers, destitutes, orphans, children on the street, and the neglect. BSK has reached out to nearly 2500 families with dry ration food, health and safety kits and daily meal for the orphans and street involved youth in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Fr Bellamkonda Sudhakar, the Executive Director of BSK, through the help of Mr Shravan Kasam, the Programme Lead of T-Social Impact Group and Mr Vinay Vangala, a Social Activist accompanied to meet Shri N Ravi Kiran and Smt V Mamatha, the Zonal Commissioners of GHMC, Sherlingampalli and Kukkatpally respectively to hand-over the face masks stitched by the students/trainees of Don Bosco Navajeevan (DBNJ) Rehabilitation Centre, Ramanthapur and Don Bosco Human Resource Development Centre (DBHRDC), Gagillapur. They have stitched nearly 17,000 face masks of which BSK has handed over 5,000 and 4,000 masks to the commissioners respectively today in their own office premises and the rest of 8,000 masks to the people in slums.

The commissioners have endorsed the letters submitted to them with words of appreciation and applause for the yeomen relief services being carried out by BSK. There were also Dy Commissioners Shri Venkanna and Smt Prashanthi of GHMC, Sherlingampalli and Kukkatpally and other officers present while handing over the masks.

BSK believes working as a TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) that has inspired to take a giant leap to work with various governmental and non-governmental networks to fight Covid-19 pandemic. BSK vows to continue its mission in collaboration with like-minded individuals and groups. BSK is ever grateful to everyone who extended their help in achieving the tasks.
