Sacred Heart Novitiate, Manoharabad, May 24, 2020: On the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord and the Feast of Mary Help of Christians, the Sacred Heart Novitiate, Manoharabad of the Province of St Joseph, Hyderabad offered 10 young men, who made a courageous and generous offering of themselves to the Lord through their first Salesian religious profession in response to the Lord who has called them to this radical way of life. They were joined by three clerics who renewed their vows and three more clerics who made their perpetual profession. Due to the Covid-19, it had to be a quite simple celebration, but even the pandemic of such global proportions could not detract from the solemnity and festivity of this important moment in the lives of these young Salesians. The Holy Eucharist began at 10:30 am presided over by Provincial, Fr Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, who received the professions and renewals of vows in the name of Fr Angel Fernandez Artime, our Rector Major. Fr Provincial was assisted at Mass by Fr Thomas Santiagu, the Vice Provincial and Fr Noel Maddhichetty, the 3rd Provincial of the Province. As neighboring priests and religious could not be invited for this occasion due to the Corona virus pandemic, a few religious sisters from Presentation Novitiate and from JMJ convent, Manoharabad along with Fr Varkey SVD from St Arnold’s High School, Toopran were present and offered their prayers. Alongside, this occasion marked the conclusion of the silver jubilee year of the Sacred Heart Novitiate at Manoharabad.

Besides, three clerics who could not come to the novitiate for the perpetual profession due to covid-19 lock-down, however, have professed in their respective houses; and 51 clerics in temporary vows renewed their vows.

Hearty congratulations to 10 young Salesians who have boldly embarked upon the path of consecrated life in the way of Don Bosco. Prayers assured that they may become holy and committed Salesian priests and persevere in their vocation till the end of their lives. A new batch of 14 novices is expected to enter the Novitiate very soon.
